- Lois R. AdlerLois Richman Adler, a resident of The Atriums in Overland Park, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at St. Luke's Plaza. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 28, at The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah, 12320 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, KS. Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to be made to the Frank J. Adler Leadership Endowment Fund of B'nai Jehudah or to the Arthritis Foundation of Greater Kansas City, 1900 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208. Mrs. Adler was born in Chicago in 1926, the daughter of Herman I. and Anna Handmaker Richman, and resided there until moving to Kansas City in 1953. She received a Bachelor of Education degree from the National College of Education, Evanston, IL, in 1948. After substitute teaching in Chicago public schools, she served as remedial reading teacher at the Catholic Youth Organization of Chicago, 1949-52. From 1963 to 1967 she was the head teacher at the Kansas City Orthoptic Reading Clinic and did private tutoring. From 1967 to 1984 she taught at Sunset Hill School. Mrs. Adler belonged to Temple B'nai Jehudah since 1953. She was a member of the Temple's Sisterhood and an Honorary Life Member of its board. She was a Life Member of the National Council of Jewish Women and a charter member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. She also belonged to the Brandeis University National Women's Committee, the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, and the Mainstream Coalition. Mrs. Adler is survived by these, her loving and devoted family: Frank J. Adler, her husband of 56 years; her sons, Daniel I. Adler of Leawood and Dr. Paul D. Adler and daughter-in-law, Dr. Heidi M. Miller of East Longmeadow, MA; her grandchildren, Michelle Adler McLain and husband Bradley of Louisburg, KS; David S. Adler of Prairie Village, and Jonathan A.M. and Katherine L.M. Adler of East Longmeadow; greatgranddaughter, Marissa McLain; her brothers, Roland Richman and sister-inlaw, Miriam of Palm Springs, CA, and Donald I.
