| Notes |
- Original surname was originally Yeutahl (Uttal) but was changed to Goldberg in Lithuania so that the family couldn't be identified to avoid their sons being drafted in the Tzar's army. He was called up to military duty the day after his wedding, and fled across the border into Prussia where his wife, Dvora, was reunited with him some time later; together, they came to America in steerage. They settled in Louisville, KY and New Albany, IN where Dvora (now Deborah) had relatives. [1]
